After years of activity, the Shiro Poporoya restaurant needed a major renovation. The project, curated by Camillo Maggi of the DnA Associates studio and Eleonora Re, brought a new, fresher look, while always maintaining a strong connection with the most authentic Japan. The chosen style, in fact, would make it confuse with the typical sushi-ya, ryotei, sukiyaki-ya and soba-ya that line the Kamogawa river, in the Pontocho area of Kyoto. The oak wood and light colors create a clean and essential environment in which Mami, daughter of Hirazawa Minoru known to all as Shiro, welcomes her customers and invites them to enjoy the culinary experience proposed by the new chef Ikeda Osamu.
The aesthetics of the outside area is then inspired by the wa-shitsu (literally “tatami room”) and aims to stand out as a calmer and more relaxed environment.
While the bathroom totally immerses us and transports us to a bamboo forest recreated through wallpaper that covers the room from floor to ceiling.
